To members of the late-IMEEM Doll Sanctuary group:
Ive been contacted more than once by a couple of Doll Sanctuary members since my "mass doll photo theft report" on them and the tanking of IMEEM and their merging with MySpace due to bankruptcy.
To sum it up, I was approached by these members who clarified to me what the group Doll Sanctuary was and their reasoning behind using artist and company doll photos illegitimately.
Which was unnecessary.
I always knew what Doll Sanctuary was. It would take an idiot not to know what the group was about after having read through probably hundreds of pages worth of profiles and our repurposed images. For those that maybe didnt know because you didnt really look, Doll Sanctuary was pretty much a role playing group that just used dolls pictures as their characters throughout their role playing. The group was set to private due to other groups copying their ideas (not with dolls necessarily). Making the group private was a safety measure against this.
As for using our images, I was told that it was on instinct. That they simply took the images because they thought they were " pretty," like some random anime picture found on a Google search engine. Initially, the members only used doll company photos for their role playing purposes (ex: Soom, Dream of Doll, Luts, etc.) and *
sassystrawberrys photos because they thought she too was a company. Im not exactly sure how.
That isnt the point though. The point is, a lot of doll photographers state right on their images or their profiles pages... or both
that our images are not meant to be used without permission. Despite the fact that you (using general you here) use anime pictures found off of Google without credit doesnt excuse the fact that some Doll Sanctuary members purposefully ignored direct requests of the photographers whose photos were stolen.
Thats right, Doll Sanctuary members,
you stole our photos. As you get angry that others steal your graphics or your role playing ideas, we get angry that people like you ignore our requests to
NOT use our photos without permission. And you all did just that, take our photos without our permission. Are you all following?
Credit will not be sufficient for me personally. Some doll photographers may think otherwise, once they find out who stole what, but I am not one of them. I dont want to see my photos and characters being hashed up in your graphics and made into characters of your own. I dont want some measly credit on the corner of the page or a statement saying, "the images shown are not my property but to their respective owner's and creators. I would rather you took my things down and not take anything of mine anymore.
Find your image sources for artist doll photos. Get permissions. If permission is not given to you, dont just go and fucking use the image anyway. Be respectful to the artist and take it down. A non-response doesnt mean youre allowed to use it either. The internet is not a free-for-all zone, as you may think.
Failure to do this will result in a report once youre found, guaranteed.
And you will be found.
