I also agree that they red in this photo is well played. I just thought of this, but could you try this (of course you don't have to if you don't want to)? But try doing a black and white photo with the only colors showing through being red. It would be kinda be like a noir film feel with some red splashed in. I think that look could easily be pulled off with the way he is.
